List Building: Learn How I Soared Past The Gurus

Okay, so the gurus in Internet marketing have huge lists--that's no secret. And their list is their largest source of revenue. So they have lists of 10,000; 50,000; or 100,000 names. Don't be intimidated.

The fact is that most of their emails never get opened! If you have subscribed to the lists of many of the big guys in Internet marketing you know that their emails are filled with nothing but hype and affiliate links. People get tired of reading that stuff. They all say that building relationships with your list is vital, but how many of them actually do that. Very, very few indeed. They don't follow their own advice about building relationships with readers very well.

A much, much smaller list can perform admirably well if you do, in fact, have a good relationship with your list. How do you establish such a relationship? You begin by providing them with valuable content--content they can use and apply in their own business. It all comes down to having each party gain something from the relationship. The list owner gets to market to hsi list and profit, and--the subscribers should benefit as well. They should be provided with good content. Without that good content the list will slowly wither and die. Marketers must provide good content to their subscribers.

Do this and your open rates will soar. Sure, throw in some affiliate links once in a while to make some sales, but establish that quality relationship first and your small list will outperform much larger lists in no time. It's all about how many people actually open your emails, not necessarily how many people you send them to.

Make yourself an authority figure; build that relationship; watch your profits soar.
